Ensure that
air filtration systems in schools are easily accessible for
maintenance. Clean ducts and change the filters regularly.
II.
Maintain air
moisture at a comfortable level so that air does not become
too dry or too moist.
III.
Remove wall-to-wall
carpeting, which can harbor dust, dust mites, and molds.
A combination of linoleum, tile or terrazzo flooring and dry-cleanable
area carpets is ideal.
IV.
Instead of chalkboards
and chalk, use whiteboard and water-based markers.
V.
Make sure that
only odor-free cleaning products are used and that they are
stored securely. Have cleaning done after school hours
when students are not in the building.
VI.
Carry out painting
renovation projects in early weeks of summer just after classes
finish and let the school air out before students return in
September.
