Health
professionals and parents across North America are increasingly
concerned about the air quality in schools and the effect
poor air quality may have on student health and learning.
"Every year around September, when
the schools open, we have an epidemic of visits to our office
with asthma attacks," Dr. Vincent Osundwa, an Edmonton
allergist, recently told the Edmonton Examiner. He points
the finger at a whole range of irritants from poor ventilation
to fumes from new carpeting.
